Odds and Ends

Yesterday my books came from Amazon. I love getting a box of books! The loot:

I'm ridiculously in love with the Doodle Stitching book, and have already started some designs on paper to try!

Also, my lame-patternless-mushroom I attempted to make:

I have a pattern for a different one and have cut the fabric already - it looks more promising than my half-assed attempt! ;)

Odds and Ends

Wow, I really don't use this much at all, do I? I shall try to update it weekly, at least; I certainly have no shortage of photos to post.

My latest little project, thanks to the wonderful tutorial by mr. monkeysuit's blog.

I'm crafting some cute felt mushrooms from a pattern as well. I bought some lovely herringbone flannel and some fun prints and am attempting my first serious sewing project in - forever? I'm also looking at sewing machines with my mom, who swears by and loves her Kenmore. I cannot believe I'm looking at buying a sewing machine!

I also have a couple of other projects I'm working on; websites, some sketches in colored pencil, and some embroidery. If it weren't summer (hot!) I'd be baking up a storm - I'm itching to try some focaccia with tomatoes and red onions and some rosemary from my herb garden. As it is, I have to pick up a lemon so I can make blueberry scones tonight to use up the rest of the heavy cream. Mmm.

Website up!

http://www.krsnyder.com

Check it out! Leave a note and let me know what you think!

The final push to get it up and live was to use it as my final for Intro to Scripting. I still have to finish a few sections, but the bulk of it is up. I'm hosting it myself - we allocated 40GB of the server for it, and are running Server 2003. Hooray for free webhosting!

I have SO many more photos to add to the photography galleries. And already I'm second-guessing the interface design. But for now, it is my website. And it is live.

Will my webpage ever go up? Who knows. I just finished a commissioned (paid) page. I'm sick of web design, and yet I have another client I'm waiting for on the back burner.

It's a shame designing my page isn't as easy as the layouts I do in InDesign. I'm so used to creating physical print layouts, that trying to get things to work the way I want them to for the web is frustrating.

These days drag by - work, work, class, work, work. Another 20 minutes and I can go home. Home to feed the demons, work out, eat dinner, and get ready for tomorrow. I just need to finish up my presentation for my art history class, and I'm set. I'm looking forward to us both being home (and awake!) tomorrow - I'm asleep when he gets in, and he's asleep when I leave - the days drag out sometimes. Luckily the small furry demons keep me company - demanding food and love. Kobol was especially affectionate after getting stuck up in the rocking chair. And Caprica - she's just always ready to cuddle.

It's strange - I don't live that far from where I grew up - yet it feels like an entirely different world. All the people I knew years ago aren't part of this existence I'm in daily. Sometimes I feel the same, and other times, I feel so different.

I don't think anyone I know (or don't know!) reads this journal - so it feels strange saying things - but it's also kind of a nice separation from my "real" blog/LJ. Perhaps I should start posting images here.

My little demon, Kobol. She's a "daddy's girl" though - despite the fact I chose her when we adopted her, she really loves him. She sits right by him and purrs when he works on the computers.

Almost forgot this thing existed. Things have been hectic - I finally decided on SimpleViewer as a way of displaying my images. I've also decided that I don't ever want to do website design for a job. I need to get these two commissions out of the way so I can move on. I much prefer the other areas of design.

I can't believe it's November. I've been shooting less and less, but recently upgraded my Sigma zoom to a Tamron zoom with f/2.8 all the way through. I'm pretty happy with it. I need to start getting some photography business going so that I can justify a full frame in a few years. I'm looking at Canon's 5D. This is probably Greek to most anyone who reads this.

Perhaps I'll just a sample photo page this weekend - still plan on hosting my own webpage for now - although the server is so loud and really raises the electric bill. He switched over to Comcast business so we can have a static IP for hosting and POP3 mail accounts.

We'll see what this month brings. I need to sell prints.
